Puggle has allergic reaction to vaccine!

By | January 24, 2011

Poor Maddy. Today the puggles went to the vet to have some vaccines. They were a month behind! Oops! Everything went great, until we got home and realized Maddy looked…different.

We raced back to the vet to have some benadryl and dexamethasone injections for the swelling. Poor little girl will be sleeping with us tonight.

My puggle Nemo had a massive life threateaning allergic reaction to his second rabies shot. about 3 minutes after her 2nd year rabies shot ( which is to last for 3 years) he collapsed and all his systems, heart everything was shutting down. He was dying. The vet rushed to save him and gave him all these injections to save his life. To make a horrifying story short They were able to save him. I was bawling and in shock. He had all his shots before and no problems. He is allergic but nothing like this had ever happened before. I’m asking if anyone had similar experiences with the rabies shot on a puggle.

Norma,

This was Maddy’s second rabies shot as well. We thought her reaction was from leptospirosis, but maybe it was from the rabies shot… We’re not sure why she would have reacted this way since her first shot was fine. I’m glad Nemo is okay!
